Casey Fossum Throws Five Shutout Innings in Devil Rays Win

by @ 12:01 pm. Filed under 2007 Devil Rays

The Devil Rays won another one, and this time in a 1-0 pitchers duel.  Casey Fossum threw five shutout innings in which he gave up five hits and a walk with three strikeouts while four relievers combined for four shutout innings.

The lone run of the game came in the seventh inning.  Delmon Young singled and then he later scored on an error while Elijah Dukes had the only extra base hit of the game, a double in the third.

Scott Kazmir gets his final tune up start tomorrow in a day game against the Phillies.  He’ll then get the ball in the Devil Rays home season opener on Monday against the Yankees.
