Welcome to the most anticipated season in the Rays short history. The team is coming off of not just their first post season appearance, but their first World Series. They also made some moves, and while some are good, some could come back to bite the team in the you know what. As it stands, pitchers and catchers report in just four short days and the spring season is just around the corner.
I love the Pat Burrell signing. I think he’s going to be a big boost to the offense and should help give some protection to guys like Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena. I wasn’t too crazy about the Edwin Jackson for Matt Joyce deal but you have to make room for David Price somehow. Joyce is an interesting left handed bat and while he hasn’t secured a starting spot, with the left handed stick he should at least see his share of time on the field.
MiLB.com recently caught up with prospect Reid Brignac. It’ll be interesting to see how Brignac continues to develop with Jason Bartlett in his way but you have to figure the future left side of the infield still have Brignac in this mix.
And now that spring is close, it’s time to brush off the baseball bats and other baseball equipment in order to get ready for softball and little league. I picked up a nice new bat at Baseball Rampage because they had one of the best selections around.
