The Tampa Bay Rays are nearly unbeatable at home. They fell tonight at the friendly confines to the Cleveland Indians. Cy Young front runner Cliff Lee held the Rays in check as the Indians won 5-2. The Rays are now 66-45.
Matt Garza started for the Rays and took the loss. Garza went five innings and gave up four runs as he fell to 9-7. Garza also struck out four but gave up a pair of homers. Jason Hammel and Al Reyes went the final four innings and gave up only one hit and one run the rest of the way.
Both of the Tampa runs came in the fourth inning on a single from Akinori Iwamura. That tied the score at two but the Rays just couldn’t hold the lead or score any more runs. Iwamura had three hits while Wily Aybar and Gabe Gross each had two hits.
The Rays and Indians will go at it again tomorrow in Florida. Edwin Jackson is scheduled to start for the Rays. Game time is set for 7:10pm.
