James Shields threw eight great innings yesterday as the Devil Rays took care of the A’s 4-1. He gave up just four hits with one walks and he struck out nine and the win improved his record to 2-0.
B.J. Upton was the only Devil Ray with two hits and he drove in one of the four runs. Carl Crawford just about did it all. He doubled, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in one run.
The Rays are out of the cellar so that’s some consolation. Casey Fossum will try to make it two in a row this afternoon in an late afternoon game.
