Edwin Jackson and the Tampa Bay Rays were no match for the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. The Yankees topped the Rays 8-4 in Tampa Bay and the Rays record dropped to 84-53.
Jackson really struggled on the mound for the Rays. Jackson lasted only 3.1 innings and got roughed up for ten hits and six runs. He took the loss and had his record drop to 11-9. Troy Percival, fresh off of the disabled list, allowed two earned runs late in the game.
BJ Upton, Cliff Floyd, and Gabe Gross each had two hits to lead the Rays offense and Gross added a home run. They took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning however the Yankees scored the next six runs to knock Jackson and the Rays out of the game.
The Rays and Yankees will wrap up their series on Thursday night with Scott Kazmir taking the mound for the Rays.
