If you’re a glass half full kind of guy, you can look at the fact that the Devil Rays fought back and actually took the lead in their 9-5 loss to the Yankees today. Of course they held that lead for all of an inning and a half before Scott Kazmir finally broke down. The ace lasted only five innings and he gave up five runs against a very tough Yankee offense. He walked four which was troublesome but he struck out five.
On offense, Elijah Dukes hit a homerun in his major league debut. B.J. Upton and Carl Crawford were also solid. They went two for four with a run and an RBI a piece. Along with Rocco Baldelli, they also each stole a base.
There’s an off day tomorrow and then it’ll be Jae Seo on the mound for the Devil Rays. This will be another tough one because we face Andy Pettitte.
